Smart Robotics & the Human Factor

Campus Café

On February 29, 2024, Campus Café returns, bringing together Twente’s innovation community. Collaborating with Saxion Centre for Entrepreneurship, TValley, and Novel-T, during this edition, we provide insight into the future prospects of smart robotics & the human factor. How do we strengthen the cooperation between humans and machines? What is the impact of robotisation on a company’s sustainability, robustness, and work culture? And how do we train tomorrow’s engineers?

With practical examples from Riwald Recycling, Riwo, the Saxion Research Group Smart Mechatronics and Robotics, as well as the Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Advanced Manufacturing at the University of Twente, the campus café will showcase Twente’s technological innovation power!

Breakout session 2: Innovation case
Title: The smart digital (manufacturing) factory – process improvement through data in the right place, at the right time, in the right perspective.

Digitalisation in the manufacturing industry is becoming increasingly indispensable for companies striving for growth. This transformative process not only streamlines production but also facilitates efficient scaling.

Van Raam, renowned for its adapted bicycles, embarked on a digitalization initiative in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Advanced Manufacturing. Together, they are developing a robust digital infrastructure to realize Van Raam’s vision of a highly flexible digital factory. Through strategic data management, they aim to empower employees at every level of the organisation.

In this enlightening session, Maaike Slot, a research engineer at Fraunhofer, along with Maikel Fraikin and Jan-Willem Boezel from Van Raam, will share their insights into the journey towards Van Raam’s ideal digital factory. Learn about the challenges they encountered and the innovative solutions they implemented. Walk away with practical tips to propel your own digitisation efforts to the next level!
